 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 491 was established by officers of the Gwinnett County Police Department. It supports the officers, who place their lives in harms way every day and their families, waiting for them to return home safe.
The
members of the Local 491 are proud to serve and protect the
citizens of Gwinnett County. As Gwinnett County Police Officers our mission is clear; to deliver world class police service to the citizens of this great county and to protect the professional interests of our members.
The
members of Local 491 envision a county free from violence, crime and fear. When these three elements are reduced or eliminated our County thrives. Our goal is to work
with the county government and our police administration to take the offensive against those who would seek to destroy the peace, tranquility and productivity of our citizens.
Gwinnett
County has been undergoing extraordinary changes: a rapid increase in
population, a skyrocketing change in demographics and increasing economic growth. These positive changes create an increasing demand for professional police services. It is my belief that the members of the IBPO Local 491 should continue to work as a team with the citizens, the police administration and the county commission to meet present and future demands for these curcial services.
